The British player reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year because of the illness that has affected her in recent days.

The 22-year-old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set in the match with Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

She mentioned that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
