The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial World Series following the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, placing him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation besides him with his October magic," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" following his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
